The Punjab Education Department has introduced a dress code for teachers in government schools, detailing specific attire requirements for male and female educators.
According to an official circular, male teachers should wear shalwar kameez with a waistcoat or formal outfits such as pants, shirts, and ties. Additionally, male educators are expected to maintain a clean-shaven appearance.
Female teachers must wear a shalwar kameez with a scarf, and closed shoes. The circular also specifies that all clothing and footwear must not be transparent.
School principals have been directed to enforce this policy strictly. The department has also urged educators to focus on completing the syllabus as the academic year nears its end. Teachers are expected to conduct daily lectures and give special attention to students’ academic progress while emphasizing character-building activities.
Faculty must supervise students during recess to ensure safety and prevent children from leaving the premises during school hours. Hygiene practices, such as handwashing after using restrooms, should be encouraged, with restrooms properly stocked with water, soap, and towels.
Additionally, staff must ensure that all doors, windows, and electrical appliances, including lights, fans, heaters, and water pumps, are turned off before leaving the school to promote safety and resource conservation.
