Officials said the new system will help reduce traffic congestion, shorten waiting times, and ensure smoother movement of vehicles on the busy route.

The digital system will also improve monitoring of suspicious vehicles on Lahore Ring Road, strengthening security and surveillance.

Officials said the Eastern Toll Plaza was previously operated by a third party, which often led to operational problems and inconvenience for commuters. The new digital mechanism is expected to improve traffic management, service delivery, and the overall travel experience.

Speaking at the inauguration, Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth said the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is committed to using modern technology in public infrastructure projects.

He said the digitalization of the toll plaza will bring greater transparency, efficiency, and convenience for commuters while helping improve traffic flow on Lahore Ring Road.
