UAE Consul General Once Again Responds to Reports of Visa Ban on Pakistanis

The UAE Consul General in Karachi, Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumaithi, has dismissed claims that visas are being denied to Pakistanis, clarifying that the UAE remains committed to fostering strong ties with Pakistan.

Speaking to the media during the opening of Emirates World in Karachi, Dr. Al Rumaithi emphasized that there are no restrictions on issuing visas to Pakistani nationals. However, reports had previously surfaced alleging that visa applications were being rejected, sparking concerns about possible policy changes.

Addressing the speculation, some believed the UAE had revised its policy to grant working visas exclusively to highly skilled workers. The Consul General’s remarks, however, aim to reassure the public about the UAE’s continued openness to Pakistan.

On the economic front, Dr. Al Rumaithi shared that talks for a free trade agreement (FTA) between the UAE and Pakistan are nearing completion. Once signed, the agreement is expected to boost trade by reducing import duties on various goods.

The UAE, already Pakistan’s third-largest trade partner, sees significant potential for deeper economic collaboration. The envoy highlighted ongoing efforts by UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Alzaab to engage with Pakistan’s business community to further strengthen bilateral relations.
