The police have arrested six members of a carjacking gang operating across Karachi. The group, led by a woman named Anisa Kiran, is accused of stealing vehicles and robbing factory workers.
SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui confirmed that Anisa Kiran, the gang’s ringleader, is already in custody. The arrests were made last week by FB Industrial Area police, marking a significant breakthrough in the fight against carjacking in the city.
The gang, with 22 members, targeted factory vehicles and cashiers. They carried out a series of car thefts and robberies in different parts of Karachi. Police revealed that Anisa Kiran’s husband, Saad, was her accomplice and helped recruit young men into the gang by offering them easy money.
The arrested suspects included Sherdil, Abdul Rafi, Kabir, Basit, Saad, and Anisa Kiran. Police stated that Basit had recently returned from Dubai, while others had been operating for over a year without being caught.
During the operation, police recovered several stolen items, including three pistols, mobile phones, and cash. Many of these items were stolen during robberies in areas such as Bilal Colony, Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan, Defence, and Gulshan-e-Maymar.
The suspects admitted to their involvement in multiple carjackings and robberies during interrogation. The police are now working to locate other gang members and recover more stolen vehicles.
