The upcoming Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Plus represent a notable upgrade for the brand, particularly in photography. Unlike the dual-camera setups of previous models like the Nothing Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus, these new devices will feature dedicated zoom cameras for the first time.
Nothing Phone 3a Telephoto Upgrade
The Nothing Phone (3a) will reportedly feature a telephoto lens enabling high-quality zoomed-in shots with greater clarity and detail, a feature missing from Nothing’s earlier devices.
The Phone (3a) Plus, however, is expected to take things even further with a periscope zoom camera. This brings extended optical zoom levels without sacrificing image quality. If true, the Phone (3a) Plus will stand out in the mid-range segment as one of the few devices offering this premium feature.
Other Upgrades
Beyond the cameras, both the Phone (3a) series will reportedly switch to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, ensuring improved performance and efficiency. Additionally, the devices will include eSIM support, another first for Nothing. Users can expect flexibility in SIM options, with the ability to pair one physical SIM with an eSIM or use two physical SIMs.
While Nothing’s prior devices focused on sleek design and software innovation, the introduction of dedicated zoom cameras signals a welcome upgrade. However, as it stands, there is currently no word on a launch date for these new devices, but we can expect to see AI features and more once it becomes official.
