In October, Qualcomm unveiled its Snapdragon 8 Elite System-on-a-Chip (SoC). Now, just a few months later, sources indicate the company is already well into developing its successor.
This new top-tier Qualcomm chipset may even arrive sooner than expected, potentially launching around the middle of the year. This information comes from a post on Weibo by notable tipster Digital Chat Station. As with any information from Weibo, especially after translation, it’s important to remember that details can sometimes be misinterpreted.
According to the rumor, the next Elite chipset will feature a substantial improvement in graphics processing unit (GPU) performance compared to the current Snapdragon 8 Elite. Furthermore, it is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process.
It is worth mentioning that the current Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite SoC also introduced a major bump in GPU performance, meaning we can expect greater things from the 8 Elite successor. Apple’s rival A17 Pro and the A18 are capable of running AAA games such as Resident Evil: Village at console quality and we can expect the same from the upcoming Snapdragon chip hopefully.
Keep in mind that this news comes from unconfirmed sources so take this information with a grain of salt. Qualcomm may end up changing its launch schedule later on or there may be delays in production. You never know.
In any case, stay tuned for updates.
