31 FIA Officials Allegedly Facilitated Human Trafficking in Greece Boat Tragedy Case

31 officers and officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have allegedly been implicated in the Greece boat tragedy, where at least five Pakistani nationals lost their lives, ARY News reported.

The suspects, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, and constables, are alleged to have facilitated illegal travel for those who tragically perished.

These officers were reportedly stationed at various airports across Pakistan, with 19 from Faisalabad, three from Sialkot, two each from Lahore and Islamabad, and five from Quetta. Their names have been added to the Exit Control List to prevent them from leaving the country.

The investigation gained momentum after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to take decisive action against human traffickers within a week.

Additionally, the Prime Minister ordered the formation of a committee, led by the interior minister, to devise a long-term solution to combat human trafficking.

In connection with the tragedy, the FIA arrested two human smugglers earlier this week, including a woman. On Saturday, two more individuals involved in human trafficking were apprehended from Gujranwala’s Shadman Colony.

According to the Director of the FIA, the accused were collaborating with agents to provide fake visas to citizens across Pakistan. The arrests highlight ongoing efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks and ensure justice for the victims of the Greece boat tragedy.
