36 FIA Officials Dismissed from Job Due to Alleged Involvement in Greece Boat Tragedy

At least 36 officers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have been dismissed from service over their alleged involvement in the Greece boat tragedy, ARY News reported.

According to details, 13 FIA officials were directly implicated in human smuggling, and cases have been registered against them. The FIA chief emphasized that the agency would not tolerate those found guilty of negligence or engaging in illegal activities. He assured that strict disciplinary action would be taken against individuals linked to the tragedy.

The dismissals follow revelations by an investigation committee probing the incident, which uncovered the involvement of 31 FIA officials in the human smuggling network connected to the Greece boat disaster. The committee has placed the names of these officers, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, and constables, on the Passport Control List (PCL), effectively barring them from traveling abroad.

Sources revealed that implicated officers include 19 from Faisalabad Airport, three from Sialkot Airport, two each from Lahore and Islamabad Airports, and five from Quetta Airport.

The ongoing investigation has determined that these officers facilitated the smuggling of people aboard the ill-fated vessel that sank off the Greek coast, resulting in significant loss of life. Among the victims were at least nine Pakistani nationals, whose deaths were confirmed as authorities recovered additional bodies after the initial report.
