Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) Director General Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed recently chaired a meeting to discuss reports of stray dogs in the general aviation area, according to a press release issued on Sunday.
Key officials, including Deputy Director General of Airports Sadiqur Rehman, directors from various departments such as APS and HR, and representatives from SQMS, attended the meeting. The acting airport manager and airside manager were also present to provide input on the issue.
During the meeting, the airside manager outlined measures already in place to manage wildlife and vegetation near the airport. It was emphasized that the airside area is completely fenced and monitored around the clock by dedicated bird and wildlife control teams. Additionally, routine safety checks are conducted before every flight’s landing and takeoff to maintain strict safety standards.
The PAA clarified that no formal complaints regarding stray dogs or wildlife on the airside have been recorded. However, the director general urged officials to explore advanced technologies to further bolster security and safety in the area.
Following the meeting, the DG inspected the general aviation area, which is adjacent to the main airport but more susceptible to stray animal intrusions due to its semi-open layout. Further steps to enhance security in this zone are under consideration.
