According to a recent leak from Digital Chat Station, Apple will move away from the SE branding, rebranding its budget-friendly lineup with a more modern and cohesive name. It may be renamed to the iPhone 16E, which is rumored to arrive by April.
Here are the details.
The iPhone 16E will feature a 6.06-inch FHD+ LTPS OLED screen, which delivers sharper visuals and richer colors compared to its predecessors. Although the screen maintains a 60 Hz refresh rate, which is lower than the 120Hz industry standard, but still uniform with Apple’s usual strategies. Notably, Apple will introduce Face ID to this series for the first time, integrating the feature through a notch at the top of the display.
To maintain its sleek and recognizable design, Apple will equip the iPhone 16E with a flat metal frame. Additionally, the device will include a water-resistance rating, providing durability for real-world usage.
Under the hood, Apple will power the iPhone 16E with the advanced A18 chip, which represents a significant leap in performance over its predecessor. This chipset ensures faster processing speeds and improved efficiency, enabling the device to handle modern apps and multitasking with ease.
Apple will also equip the device with 8 GB of RAM, which not only boosts its multitasking capabilities but also supports Apple Intelligence features for a smarter user experience.
Apple will include a single rear camera on the iPhone 16E, staying consistent with the SE lineup’s minimalist approach to photography. Although the exact camera specifications remain undisclosed, the A18 chip will likely enhance photo and video performance.
Apple plans to price the iPhone 16E at $499, making it the most affordable iPhone in the lineup. Although this price is $70 higher than its predecessor, the numerous upgrades, including the OLED display, Face ID, and A18 chip, may justify the increase for many.
In short, this is just the iPhone SE 4 that has been appearing in leaks for the past few months, but it seems that Apple may have plans for a rebrand.
