Bumrah Responds to Rumors About His Injury

Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has strongly refuted reports claiming he was advised “bed rest” following a back injury sustained during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Taking to social media platform X, Bumrah labeled the reports as “fake news” and said they made him “laugh.”

Earlier in the day, several media outlets, citing unnamed sources, reported that Bumrah had been experiencing back swelling since his return from Australia and was advised bed rest until the swelling subsided. The reports also claimed that Bumrah was expected to visit the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, though no date had been set for his visit.

Reacting to an aggregator’s post about the report, Bumrah wrote:

“I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh 😂. Sources unreliable 😂”

Bumrah’s injury occurred during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The pacer, who had been instrumental in India’s campaign, was seen struggling during the first innings, where he refrained from bowling at full intensity. Later, he left the field for scans, raising concerns about his fitness.

Since the injury, speculation about Bumrah’s condition has been rife. Reports have suggested that the pacer is dealing with back swelling, a recurring issue for him, and that he may miss upcoming matches. However, the BCCI has yet to release an official statement detailing the extent of Bumrah’s injury or his recovery timeline.

Some media outlets have claimed that the board is awaiting a detailed report from its medical staff before making any announcements.
