Officials from the civic agency convened on Thursday to explore the use of helicopters and drones for aerial seeding in a tree plantation campaign focusing on the Margalla Hills and other vacant lands.
Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, held a meeting with environmental expert Rizwan Mehboob. The Member Environment and Director General Environment were also in attendance.
The discussions centered on protecting Islamabad’s forest cover and environment while launching an extensive tree plantation drive this year.
According to a press release, the CDA chairman proposed devising a plan to incorporate helicopters and drones for aerial seeding during the campaign. He also emphasized the importance of involving students from educational institutions and engaging the corporate sector to maximize the initiative’s impact.
Additionally, the CDA chairman underscored the need to formulate a comprehensive strategy to manage and prevent forest fires in the National Hill Park ahead of the fire season. Environmentalist Rizwan Mehboob extended his voluntary support to assist the CDA in controlling and mitigating forest fires.
