Schools and Colleges in Sindh to Remain Closed on January 28

The Sindh College Education Department has announced that all public and private educational institutions under its administrative control will remain closed on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

This closure is in observance of Shab-e-Mairaj (27th Rajab, 1446). The notification, issued by Asif Ikram, Secretary to the Government of Sindh, refers to a decision made during a meeting of the Sub-Committee of the Steering Committee on Education held on November 28, 2024.

It mandates the closure of colleges across the province to honor the religious occasion. Shab-e-Mairaj marks the night when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ascended to the heavens, a significant event in Islamic history.

Observed on the 27th night of Rajab, this occasion is regarded with deep reverence by Muslims worldwide. Many spend the night in prayer, seeking blessings and forgiveness.
