The cost of a five-star Umrah package during Ramadan has now surpassed the official Hajj package due to rising airline fares and hotel prices.
According to a private news channel, umrah packages across all categories—five-star, four-star, three-star, and economy—have become more expensive. Advance bookings for airline tickets start at Rs. 162,000 from the first day of Ramadan.
Airblue’s round-trip fare from Lahore to Jeddah is now Rs. 162,000, while PIA’s fare has risen to Rs. 187,000. Saudi Airlines’ economy class ticket costs Rs. 266,000.
Hotels in Makkah and Madinah have significantly raised their rates from the start of Ramadan until Eid. The minimum cost for an economy-class hotel room in the first ten days has surged to 350 riyals per night, while in the last ten days, it has jumped to 600 riyals. Just two months ago, the rate was around 150 riyals.
A five-star hotel stay with pre-dawn meals (Sehri) now costs 2,500 riyals per night, while one including Iftar has reached 3,000 riyals. By the 20th of Ramadan, five-star hotel rates in Madinah range from 2,500 to 3,000 riyals per night.
Four-star hotels now charge between 1,500 and 2,000 riyals. The shuttle bus service and three-star Umrah package costs have increased by over Rs. 400,000.
