The United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has revised its travel advisory for Pakistan, urging British nationals to avoid several areas due to security threats.
The updated guidance, issued on Tuesday, strongly discourages travel within 10 miles of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, citing elevated risks.
It also advises against visiting most of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), including Bajaur, Bannu, Swat, Peshawar, and North and South Waziristan.
Additionally, travelers have been warned against using key routes such as the Karakoram Highway between Mansehra and Chilas and the N45 Highway from Mardan to Chitral, including Kalash Valley.
In Balochistan, restrictions have been placed on southern coastal areas, including Gwadar, with only essential travel permitted south of the N10 Motorway and a section of the N25 near Sindh’s border.
The advisory also advises against traveling within 10 miles of the Line of Control in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while in Sindh, areas north of Nawabshah remain restricted.
The update follows a rise in militant attacks in KP and Balochistan, primarily targeting law enforcement. Pakistan has urged Afghanistan to curb cross-border terrorism, while security forces have ramped up counter-terrorism operations, eliminating 28 militants in the past two weeks.
