KP Announces Ramadan Relief Package for Thousands of Families

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a Ramazan relief package, offering Rs. 10,000 in financial aid to 5,000 families in each provincial constituency. To monitor market prices and curb hoarding, a special cell will be set up within the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur announced these measures while presiding over the 22nd Cabinet meeting on Friday. He directed ministers to engage with the public at the grassroots level to prevent exploitation during the holy month.

He also instructed MPAs to help compile lists of eligible families for the relief program. The cabinet approved revisions to the PC-1/DCE’S for upgrading the IRNUM PET-CT/Cyclotron Project, aimed at improving cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities.

Additionally, the ‘D-Talk and Insulin for Life’ initiative, funded by a $5 million foreign grant, was extended. This project provides free insulin and medication to 85,789 diabetic patients across 22 districts through 26 insulin centers.

A proposal to convert the provincial government’s MI-17 helicopter into an air ambulance was also approved, with Rs. 150 million allocated for modifications. The Rescue 1122 service will manage its operations.

The cabinet further approved exemptions for humanitarian cargo by the World Food Program and reduced the infrastructure development cess on transit trade with Afghanistan to one percent of the goods’ value.
