The free solar system initiative in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has seen an overwhelming response, with over 1.6 million people signing up, according to the provincial energy department.
As part of the program, 130,000 qualifying applicants will be provided with solar power systems. The rollout will take place in two phases, with 65,000 recipients selected in each phase.
The initiative primarily targets individuals enrolled in the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
Officials stated that households consuming up to 100 electricity units per month will receive a 50% subsidy on the solar systems, which have an estimated total cost of approximately Rs200,000 each.
Once the registration period closes, authorities will begin the verification process to confirm eligibility and proceed with the distribution of the systems.
