The federal government collected Rs. 549.41 billion in petroleum development levy (PDL) during the first half of the 2024-25 fiscal year.
This is the highest-ever collection achieved for any fiscal year during this period. Official documents seen by ProPakistani reveal that the levy increased by Rs. 76.64 billion compared to the Rs. 472.77 billion collected in the same period last year.
The petroleum levy target for the current fiscal year has been set at Rs. 1.281 trillion, which, if achieved, would be the highest in the country’s history. For context, Rs. 1.019 trillion was collected in 2023-24, up from Rs. 580 billion in 2022-23.
Currently, a PDL of Rs. 60 per liter is levied on both petrol and high-speed diesel.
