Another Overbilling Scandal Hits LESCO

A fresh case of millions of units being overbilled has been uncovered in the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO). According to sources, consumers in the Northern and Kasur Circles were charged excess units. Upon detection of the irregularities, LESCO Chief Shahid Haider ordered strict action against those responsible.

The LESCO administration has decided to charge-sheet Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers (XENs), and Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs), while formal inquiries have also been initiated.

Sources reveal that LESCO officials inflated electricity bills to compensate for line losses. Notably, three months ago, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had compiled a report aimed at ending overbilling in LESCO. However, the company has once again resorted to excessive billing to meet its line loss targets.
