Punjab’s Sports Endowment Fund (SEF) will provide scholarships to top performers in the Khelta Punjab Games. The decision was made during a meeting at Punjab Stadium, chaired by Sports Secretary Shahid Zaman.
Officials from the Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab department, including Director General Khizar Afzaal, Additional Secretary Sports Mian Usman Ali, and Director Admin Dr. M Kaleem, attended the meeting. Representatives from the finance and pension departments were also present.
During the session, Khizar Afzaal provided an in-depth briefing on SEF’s initiatives. The sports secretary highlighted that the Rs. 2 billion fund is dedicated to supporting skilled athletes.
He noted that top performers from the Inter-Provincial Quaid-e-Azam Games are already receiving scholarships through SEF.
Sial emphasized that many promising athletes have emerged from the Khelta Punjab and Quaid-e-Azam Games, and the fund is being used to promote sports culture and player welfare across the province.
Scholarships are awarded in three categories: Platinum athletes receive Rs. 70,000 per month, Gold Rs. 50,000, and Silver Rs. 30,000. He added that Punjab is home to exceptional sports talent, and the province’s athletes will be strong contenders in the upcoming 35th National Games.
