Mohammad Rizwan Passes Babar Azam For Another Milestone

Pakistan’s limited-overs captain Mohammad Rizwan continued to make a case for being the team’s most important batter—at times even eclipsing Babar Azam—after surpassing another record previously held by his former captain during his team’s incredible win over South Africa in the tri-series fixture at Karachi.

Rizwan, alongside Salman Ali Agha, reached several milestones during their side’s win. However, it was Rizwan who became Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in successful 300+ ODI chases. With 425 runs in just seven innings and an average of 141.67, Mohammad Rizwan has overtaken Babar Azam to claim the top spot in this elite list.

His latest match-winning century—his second in such chases—places him alongside Babar Azam and Younis Khan, who also have two centuries in successful 300+ pursuits. Yet, Rizwan’s consistency sets him apart, as he has maintained an astonishing average that reinforces his status as Pakistan’s most reliable batter in high-pressure run chases.

Rizwan’s latest achievement further cements his reputation as one of Pakistan’s finest middle-order batters in ODIs. His ability to control the tempo of a chase, absorb pressure, and accelerate at crucial moments has made him an indispensable asset in the team’s batting lineup.

With Pakistan increasingly needing to chase high scores, Rizwan’s contribution to the team becomes all the more important.
