BYD has unveiled Han L, a high-performance electric sedan. It comes in two versions: a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model with a 670 HP motor and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant combining a 777 HP rear motor with a 308 HP front motor, totaling 1,085 HP. The AWD model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, competing with the best-in-class EVs like Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire.
Both versions are equipped with an 83.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The RWD model offers a CLTC-rated range of 701 km, while the AWD version provides 601 km. The Han L supports dual-gun DC charging, enabling a charge from 16% to 100% in 24 minutes, even at temperatures as low as -30°C.
In addition to the electric variants, BYD offers plug-in hybrid versions of the Han L. The DM-i model pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a 269 HP electric motor, providing an electric-only range of 170 km CLTC. The DM-p variant adds an extra 269 HP motor, offering an electric range of 145 km CLTC.
The Han L measures 5,050 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,970 mm. Its design features BYD’s “Loong Face” aesthetic, including a distinctive “Dragon Mustache” front element and taillights inspired by phoenix wings.
The interior offers ample shoulder space—1,531 mm in the front and 1,484 mm in the rear—and includes amenities like a refrigerator, fragrance system, wireless charging, and Dynaudio speakers.
BYD plans to launch the Han L in China this year, with a starting price of approximately 300,000 yuan (around $ 41,350 or 1.2 Crore).
