OnePlus Gets Strange But Welcome Upgrade for Instagram

In an unexpected but welcome update today, OnePlus has integrated its advanced Night Mode photography into Instagram’s camera interface for OnePlus 13 users.

The new feature leverages the same Night Mode found in the OnePlus 13’s native camera app, but now seamlessly works within Instagram. Users no longer need to switch between apps or sacrifice image quality when posting nighttime content to their social feeds.

How to Use It

Using the new feature is straightforward: after updating to the latest version of Instagram, you simply need to open Instagram’s camera. In low-light conditions, a moon icon automatically appears at the top of the screen, indicating Night Mode is active. Click a photo by pressing the shutter button and hold your device steady for a few seconds while the camera processes the shot.

OnePlus has shown off the feature through comparison shots, showing improvements in low-light photography when Night Mode is enabled versus standard Instagram captures. Here is what it looks like.

While the company hasn’t confirmed plans to bring this feature to other OnePlus devices, they’ve indicated their commitment to enhancing social media integration based on user feedback.

In related news, OnePlus is gearing up to launch a compact device in its flagship lineup for the first time. While competitors such as Samsung and Apple are reportedly working on slimmer devices, OnePlus plans to bring a 13 Mini device with a few trade-offs in specifications to keep the price lower.
