Transport Associations Threaten Nationwide Strike Over New Restrictions

Oil tankers and goods transport associations have given the government a 72-hour deadline to accept the demands of the Balochistan Goods Truck Trailer Owners Association.

According to these associations, the cost of running a ten-wheel vehicle has risen to nearly Rs. 3 million. They argue that vehicle owners have already upgraded their trucks, and the new restrictions will make them useless. This will result in major financial losses for both owners and workers.

The associations have warned that they will block important highways in all four provinces if their demands are ignored. The protest has support from several transport groups, including the Oil Tankers Association, Edible Oil Tankers Association, All Pakistan Truck Association, Sindh-Balochistan Mazda Goods Transport, Goods Transport Association, Car Carriers, Water Tankers, Sindh Dumpers, and Karachi Goods Transport Association.

The transport groups insist that if the load axle restrictions are not removed, they will stand with the Balochistan Goods Truck Trailer Owners Association and go on strike. This could disrupt transport routes nationwide and create difficulties for businesses and the public.
