Authorities have restricted heavy traffic entry in Islamabad and Rawalpindi as part of enhanced security measures for the Champions Trophy 2025. The ban will remain in effect on February 24, 25, and 27 from 7:30 AM to 1:30 AM.
According to the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), heavy vehicles will be stopped at several points outside the twin cities, including Margalla, Taxila, Burhan Interchange, Chakri Interchange, Mandra Toll Plaza, and Satra Meel Toll Plaza.
Over 351 officers will be deployed to manage the traffic, with alternate routes available for the public’s convenience. Due to VIP movements, traffic congestion is expected on Srinagar Highway and Expressway. Citizens are advised to take alternative routes and cooperate with law enforcement.
Commuters can contact the traffic helpline at 1915 or tune into FM Radio 92.4 for updates. Information will also be shared via social media channels.
To ensure strict security, Islamabad Police have deployed high-tech surveillance, including 900 cameras, drone monitoring, body-worn cameras, and vehicle tracking systems. Smart vehicles and virtual patrolling officers are also monitoring all key routes and accommodations.
