Pakistan to Supply JF-17 Fighter Jets to Azerbaijan Soon

Azerbaijan is set to acquire its first batch of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan, with discussions underway for joint production in the future. Information Minister Atta Tarar announced this during an interview with a private news channel.

He highlighted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s strong interest in expanding defense cooperation with Pakistan. Alongside military ties, Azerbaijan has pledged a $2 billion investment in Pakistan to enhance economic collaboration between the two nations.

According to Tarar, talks regarding Azerbaijan’s investment are in the final stages, with agreements expected to be signed during President Aliyev’s visit to Islamabad in April. He further stated that a $2 billion investment agreement may be finalized within a month.

During the visit, both countries signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs), including:

  • Amendments to the LNG trade framework between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
  • Advancements in the White Oil Pipeline Project to boost energy connectivity.
  • The declaration of Nakhchivan (Azerbaijan) and Lahore (Pakistan) as twin cities for stronger economic and cultural ties.

Officials from both nations have encouraged businesses to capitalize on emerging investment opportunities, further solidifying bilateral relations.
