Microsoft has enhanced its Copilot AI assistant by removing payment barriers for two significant features. The company confirmed that all users can now enjoy unlimited access to Voice and Think Deeper capabilities without subscription fees.
The Think Deeper feature uses OpenAI’s o1 model. The Voice feature, which enables conversational interactions with the AI assistant, was introduced to Copilot in October 2024. Meanwhile, Think Deeper was designed to handle complex inquiries – for example, evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of major household purchases while considering both immediate costs and potential long-term value.
In a blog post announcing these features, Microsoft said:
We are working hard to scale unlimited access to advanced features to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
Microsoft has cautioned that the newly free Copilot features may experience performance issues during peak demand. Users accessing these complimentary features might encounter delays or service interruptions when system usage reaches high levels, according to the company’s statement. Despite this broader access, Microsoft confirmed that Copilot Pro subscribers will maintain privileged status. These paying customers will continue to receive priority access to the company’s most advanced AI models during busy periods.
Additionally, Pro subscribers retain exclusive rights to experimental features under development. This tiered approach allows Microsoft to balance wider accessibility while preserving incentives for premium subscriptions, maintaining a distinction between free and paid service levels even as core functionality becomes more widely available.
