AMD Confirms Pricing and Availability for Its Latest GPUs

After months of anticipation, AMD has finally pulled back the curtain on pricing and availability details for its new Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards. The company revealed that the RX 9070 will retail for $549, while the slightly more powerful RX 9070 XT will command $599. Both cards are set to hit store shelves beginning March 6.

In addition to pricing information, AMD disclosed the full technical specifications for its latest GPUs. The standard RX 9070 features 56 compute units, operates with a 2.1GHz game clock that can boost up to 2.5GHz, and has been designed with a 220W power target. Its sibling, the RX 9070 XT, steps things up with 64 compute units, a 2.4GHz game clock capable of reaching 3.0GHz under boost conditions, and accommodates a higher 304W power limit.

The cards share several key specifications, including 16 GB of memory paired with a 256-bit memory interface and 64 MB of Infinity Cache. Both models come equipped with the latest DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b connectivity standards. Notably, AMD has opted to continue using traditional 8-pin power connectors rather than transitioning to newer alternatives.

Fresh benchmark data has also appeared straight from AMD’s labs, positioning its new graphics offerings against predecessors. The company’s internal testing reveals the RX 9070 delivers an average 21% performance boost at 4K resolution compared to the RX 7900 GRE in more than 30 game titles that include both ray traced and rasterized content.

The performance gap widens in ray tracing scenarios. The higher-end RX 9070 XT pushes even further, achieving a 42% performance advantage over the 7900 GRE in identical testing conditions. AMD claims its 9070 XT trails Nvidia’s pricier $750 RTX 5070 Ti by a mere 2% on average across the same 4K benchmark suite.

On the software front, AMD has unveiled additional details about its next-generation upscaling technology, FSR 4. This updated super resolution and frame generation system has been specifically made to leverage the machine learning capabilities built into RDNA 4 architecture. According to AMD, this hardware optimization enables FSR 4 to deliver substantially enhanced image quality compared to previous iterations that were designed for broader hardware compatibility. As a result, the technology will initially be exclusive to the 9000 series graphics cards. AMD’s rollout plan includes support for more than 30 games when FSR 4 debuts, with that number expected to reach at least 75 titles before the close of 2025.

Here are the games that will support FSR 4 in 2025.

AMD confirmed that both the RX 9070 and 9070 XT models will reach consumers exclusively through its network of board partners. This roster of manufacturers includes Acer, ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vastarmor, XFX, and Yeston. According to sources familiar with the matter, these OEMs have already shipped substantial inventory to retail channels ahead of the official release. This suggests that consumers should get favorable stock levels when the cards officially hit shelves on launch day, potentially avoiding availability issues.
