Pakistani Tennis Player Talha Waheed Breaks Guinness World Record

Pakistani tennis player Talha Waheed may not be a household name, but he has certainly made his mark in the world of sports with a new World Record. Talha Waheed now holds the Guinness World Record for the most successful serves in a minute, having set a new benchmark with 59 successful serves, surpassing the previous record of 42 held by American John Perry in 2019.

The record was officially confirmed on March 10, 2025.

With an accomplished career in national and international tennis, including victories in the 35+, 40+, and 45+ doubles categories, Waheed has long been a formidable competitor. He has also earned a career-high International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking of 144 in the 40+ doubles category and clinched several national titles throughout his career. The 48-year-old from Lahore dedicated three months of intensive training to this record attempt, adhering to a rigorous regimen to meet Guinness World Records guidelines. His official attempt took place on November 8, 2024, in Lahore, where his precise and consistent serves earned him the record.

Following the confirmation of his achievement, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, president of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), lauded Waheed’s feat, calling it a unique and inspiring achievement for Pakistani tennis. “Securing a spot in the Guinness World Records is no small feat,” Qureshi said. “Talha’s achievement is a huge boost for tennis in Pakistan and will certainly inspire others.”

While tennis in Pakistan has faced challenges due to limited infrastructure and funding, this remarkable accomplishment highlights the nation’s potential on the international sports stage.

Talha Waheed’s record-setting serves add to a growing list of Guinness World Records held by Pakistanis, including Naseem Hameed, Rashid Naseem and Irfan Mehsood.

For now, Waheed’s incredible achievement stands as a proud moment for Pakistan, further solidifying the country’s rising sporting legacy on the global stage.
