Punjab to Give Special Grants to Minorities on Religious Festivals

The Punjab government has decided to provide special grants to non-Muslim residents of the province on their religious festivals, similar to the Ramzan Nigehban Program.

According to reports, several major religious festivals are taking place in March and April. After the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims will celebrate Eid, while the Hindu community will observe Holi on March 13 and 14.

The Sikh community will commemorate Khalsa Janam Din and Vaisakhi on April 14, while Easter will be celebrated by the Christian community on April 20.

To support religious minorities, the Punjab government has announced special grants for Sikh, Hindu, and Christian communities on their respective festivals.

Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Arora told Express News that eligible Christian, Sikh, and Hindu families will receive a grant of Rs 15,000.

He emphasized that the Chief Minister of Punjab considers minorities an integral part of society, which is why this special grant is being provided to help them celebrate their religious festivals with dignity.

It is worth noting that under the Ramzan Nigehban Program, 3 million citizens in Punjab are receiving Rs 10,000 in financial assistance.
