Xiaomi’s Latest Smart Glasses Bring Better Calling and Lighter Design

Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of its Mijia Smart Audio Glasses 2, which is available through the Xiaomi Youpin crowdfunding platform. This release follows reports of Xiaomi developing AI-enabled smart glasses intended to rival offerings such as Meta’s Ray-Ban collaboration.

Refined Design

The Mijia Smart Audio Glasses 2 builds on last year’s model with a slimmer frame and lighter construction. The temple arms measure 5mm at their thinnest point, making them 26% thinner than the previous generation at that section and 30% thinner at the widest. The glasses weigh 27.6g, which helps distribute weight more evenly and reduce pressure on the wearer’s nose.

A “piano steel ultra-flexible hinge,” tested over 15,000 bends, enhances durability. The second-generation quick-release mechanism has a 70% smaller hinge design, allowing easy, one-handed lens swapping. Frame styles include metal aviator, hybrid browline, classic Boston, hybrid aviator, and deep-space titanium.

Audio and Call Features

Audio quality has been improved by optimizing the acoustic structure for increased volume and better noise reduction. A four-microphone array uses built-in algorithms to enhance call clarity. A privacy feature works with inverse sound waves and anti-leakage membranes to reduce audio leakage and can be activated using the Mijia Glasses app.

A long press on the temple initiates voice recording. Whenever recording is active, an indicator light on the frame switches on to address privacy concerns. The glasses also offer IP54 dust and water resistance, voice assistant integration, and real-time audio broadcasts.

Battery and Charging

The Mijia Smart Audio Glasses 2 can provide up to 12 hours of music playback, 9 hours of talk time, and up to 12 days of standby. They support 2C magnetic charging, reaching a full charge in about an hour, with a 10-minute charge providing four hours of listening time.

It is unclear if these glasses will reach the international market.
