Karachi Board Inter Students to Receive Grace Marks

The Sindh Assembly’s parliamentary committee has decided to grant grace marks to first-year intermediate students in Karachi who failed their annual exams, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

This decision follows a report by a fact-finding committee, led by Dr. Sarosh Lodi, which raised concerns about the procedures and administrative structure of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).

During a meeting on the issue, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah stated that the committee had submitted its investigation report on BIEK’s first-year exam results, highlighting flaws in the board’s procedures and administration.

In response to the findings, Sardar Shah announced that grace marks would be awarded to students who failed their exams, citing clear evidence of unfair treatment. He noted that many students had performed well in their matriculation exams but saw a sharp decline in their first-year results.

Under this decision, students will receive 15% grace marks in Physics and Mathematics, while 20% will be awarded in Chemistry.

The move aims to rectify the injustice faced by students and ensure fairness in the examination system. The minister also assured that the board’s structure and exam format would be revised, and those responsible for the discrepancies would face action.
