Punjab Plans ‘Sahulat on the Go’ Bazaars

The Punjab government has announced plans to establish ‘Sahulat-on-the-Go Bazaars’ across the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the initiative during a meeting held on Thursday. She directed officials to prepare a plan for launching the pilot phase of the project at 14 designated locations in Lahore, with a four-month deadline for its implementation.

The bazaars will be set up along government-owned roadside land, with a total of 816 stalls planned for Lahore in the initial phase. Locations identified for the pilot include Multan Road, Hanjarwal, Manga Mandi, Raiwind, G-1 Market, Faisal Town, Moon Market, Bedian Road, E-Millat Road, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Shahdara, Shadman, and Singhpura.

Each ‘Sahulat-on-the-Go Bazaar’ will feature uniform cottage-style shops offering food items and essential commodities. Special measures will be taken to ensure cleanliness and security at these sites.

The project is expected to expand to every tehsil in Punjab. During the meeting, Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Chairman of the Punjab Model Bazaar Management Company, presented a report on the model bazaar concept to the chief minister.
