Rawalpindi to Get 3000-Bed Kulsoom Nawaz Hospital

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given the green light for the construction of the Kulsoom Nawaz Hospital in Rawalpindi Cantt, aimed at delivering international-standard healthcare services to local residents.

According to sources, the hospital will be built on a 36-kanal site located near Chohar Chowk, on the grounds of the former GTS terminal. The state-of-the-art facility will feature 3,000 beds, including a dedicated ward for cardiac patients.

A comprehensive PC-1 proposal for the mega healthcare project has already been prepared, with construction expected to begin within the year. Funding will be provided under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Once operational, the hospital will cater not only to Rawalpindi Cantt residents but also to those in surrounding areas such as Taxila, Attock, Haripur, Fateh Jang, Tarnol, and Hassan Abdal.

National Assembly member Malik Ibrar and Provincial Assembly member Malik Iftikhar highlighted that the project reflects the vision of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to transform Rawalpindi into a modern, developed city.

Speaking to Express News, the lawmakers stated, “Rawalpindi is the stronghold of Nawaz Sharif’s supporters. Our mission is to serve the public, and this hospital marks the beginning of a new chapter in the city’s development.”

They also noted that special funds would be allocated to ensure the hospital’s timely completion and confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would lay the foundation stone of the project.
