The Ministry of Communications has informed the National Assembly that the Pakistan Post Office Department does not maintain any database of courier companies operating in the country.
In the ministry’s written reply submitted to the House, officials confirmed that courier and logistics companies in Pakistan are functioning without any formal regulatory oversight. There is no dedicated regulatory authority that currently exists to govern these service providers.
As a result, courier companies are independently setting delivery charges for letters and parcels based on their own pricing structures and internal policies, without any standardization or government checks.
The disclosure raises important questions about consumer protection, pricing transparency, and service standards in Pakistan’s growing logistics and courier sector.
