Nvidia Announces More Affordable Models in Its RTX 5000 Series of GPUs

Nvidia has unveiled its latest entry-level graphics cards, the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti, which are the newest additions to the company’s RTX 50-series lineup. These cards promise enhanced performance and new features while maintaining affordability for gamers and content creators on a budget.

RTX 5060 Ti

The RTX 5060 Ti, as the name says, is the more powerful of the two, built on the GB206 die with 4608 CUDA cores. It has a 2.57GHz boost clock and a 2.41GHz base clock. The card offers a choice between two memory options: 16GB and 8GB GDDR7, both clocked at 28Gbps with a 128-bit bus. The memory operates at a 180W power limit, providing solid performance for most gaming and rendering tasks.

RTX 5060

The RTX 5060, while less powerful than the Ti model, is still a strong contender in the entry-level market. It also uses the GB206 die but with 3840 CUDA cores. Its clock speeds are slightly lower, with a 2.5GHz boost and a 2.28GHz base clock. The 5060 is only available with 8GB of GDDR7 memory and consumes 145W of power. It may not be the best fit for ultra-small form-factor PCs, especially compared to the 4060.

Performance and Features

Both models are built on Nvidia’s new Blackwell architecture and are manufactured using TSMC’s 4N process. They feature the 5th generation Tensor cores and 4th generation RT cores, providing enhanced AI performance and ray-tracing capabilities. Additionally, both cards support DLSS 4 for frame generation and Reflex 2 for improved responsiveness. They use PCIe 5.0 for faster data transfer and also feature the new NVENC encoder and NVDEC decoder for better video encoding and decoding, including 4:2:2 support.

Pricing and Availability

The RTX 5060 Ti will be available starting April 16, with prices set at $429 for the 16GB model and $379 for the 8GB model. The RTX 5060, which is expected to launch in May, will start at $299. Both cards will be available through major OEMs, although there will be no Founders Edition models for these releases.
