Saudi Arabia Announces Tax Relief to Attract Global Talent

Saudi Arabia has launched a bold new initiative to attract global businesses and elite professionals to its Special Economic Zones (SEZs), offering a host of incentives aimed at transforming the Kingdom into a premier regional investment hub.

Spearheaded by the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority (ECZA), the campaign features tax and customs exemptions, streamlined visa procedures, and relaxed financial equivalency requirements for international talent. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

“Our inter-agency collaborations are central to creating a more competitive and investor-friendly environment,” said ECZA Secretary General Nabil Khojah. “These incentives are designed to reduce regulatory hurdles, boost efficiency, and position our SEZs among the most desirable investment destinations in the region.”

The zones are being developed as specialized hubs for industries such as logistics, high-tech manufacturing, and advanced technology, with the new benefits expected to greatly enhance their attractiveness.

As part of the effort, dedicated arbitration and dispute resolution centres are being established within the SEZs in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration. These centres will provide international-standard legal services, ensuring a stable and reliable business environment.

Regulatory cooperation is also being strengthened with entities like the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), with a focus on easing market access and minimizing red tape for products and services.

A major highlight of the initiative is the enhancement of ECZA’s digital “One-Stop-Shop” portal, a centralized platform that connects investors to all essential government services. The portal is equipped with real-time data-sharing features, simplifying business licensing and operational processes while improving transparency.

This campaign is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on oil by cultivating a dynamic, investment-driven ecosystem in key growth sectors.
