Dubai Introduces Strict Health Rules for Travelers

Dubai has passed a new Public Health Law to protect travelers and residents from contagious diseases.

Law No. (5) of 2025 on Public Health was issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.

Travelers must immediately report any suspected or confirmed communicable diseases to authorities. The law also encourages strict hygiene practices such as wearing face masks and maintaining physical distance, especially when ill.

Those infected or suspected of carrying contagious diseases are required to avoid contact with others and refrain from travel, except when approved by the Dubai Health Authority for medical reasons. Concealing infections or intentionally spreading diseases is strictly prohibited under the new law.

The law also calls for cooperation between Dubai’s health and environmental authorities to keep the city safe.

The Public Health Law will come into effect 90 days after its publication in the Official Gazette and will override any previous conflicting regulations.
