According to reports, more than 67,700 drivers across Punjab were fined this month for violating designated lane lines.
Lahore Traffic Police led the enforcement campaign, issuing fines to over 42,000 citizens for lane violations. Other major cities also saw significant numbers: Rawalpindi recorded 3,040 challans, Faisalabad 2,405, and Gujranwala 6,725.
Traffic Police Aim to Improve Road Discipline
Additional IG Traffic, Mirza Faran Baig, stated that the purpose of these fines is to ensure smoother traffic flow and reduce accidents. He highlighted that lane restrictions, supported by the creation of green lanes in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, are already making a noticeable difference in urban traffic management.
The traffic police are also using road cones to implement lane discipline in other districts and continue to expand the program.
Public Awareness Being Prioritized
Baig emphasized that the Traffic Education Unit is actively educating citizens about the importance of lane discipline and the benefits of following green lane systems. He urged all drivers to respect the rules for safer travel and faster access to their destinations.
