The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced the postponement of the annual intermediate exams 2025.
Originally scheduled to start on April 28, the exams will now commence on May 5, 2025, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
The delay is attributed to two main reasons: the ongoing process of awarding grace marks to first-year students of the 2024 intermediate exams, and the continued use of several examination centers across Karachi for matriculation exams, which began on April 8 and will run until May 8.
Officials said the revised schedule aims to ensure a smooth examination process and the availability of centers for all students. BIEK assured students that a new timetable will be issued soon and advised them and their parents to continue preparations according to the updated dates.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Assembly’s parliamentary committee decided to give grace marks to first-year students who failed their exams. This follows a report that found unfairness in the board’s exam process.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah said students will get 15% grace marks in Physics and Mathematics, and 20% in Chemistry to help those who performed well in matric but failed in intermediate.
