Punjab is preparing to launch its first-ever provincial airline, Air Punjab, following approval from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
In a special meeting held in Lahore, the Chief Minister gave the green signal for the project and directed that immediate steps be taken to lease four Airbus aircraft. Initially, Air Punjab will operate domestic flights within Pakistan, with plans to expand to international routes after one year.
Maryam Nawaz stressed the need to lease the latest aircraft and ensure that Air Punjab stands out as the country’s leading airline.
The launch of Air Punjab marks a significant milestone, as it will be Pakistan’s first airline operated by a provincial government.
A detailed plan for the airline’s operations was presented in the meeting, and arrangements have been set in motion to prepare for its official launch.
