The Asia Foundation has officially opened applications for the 2025 William P. Fuller Fellowship in Peacebuilding, offering a unique opportunity to early and mid-career professionals across Asia and the Pacific. The application portal opened on April 18, 2025, and will remain active until June 1, 2025.
This prestigious fellowship aims to support emerging leaders who are passionate about resolving conflicts and advancing peacebuilding efforts in their communities. This year, three individuals will be selected for a transformative programme that blends practical learning, professional growth, and global networking.
What the Fellowship Offers
Selected fellows will embark on a two-week peacebuilding study tour in the United States, scheduled from October 13 to October 24, 2025. During the trip, participants will visit major policy and peacebuilding centres in San Francisco, New York City, and Washington, D.C., where they will engage with leading institutions and experts in the field.
In addition to the study tour, the fellowship package includes:
- Professional Development Grant: Each fellow will receive flexible funding to support a personal project or enhance their professional skills.
- Virtual Seminar Series: Fellows will participate in online workshops before and after the U.S. exchange, featuring sessions led by The Asia Foundation’s experts in peace and leadership.
- Global Networking Opportunities: Participants will join a vibrant community of international peacebuilders, gaining valuable mentorship and field insights.
Who Can Apply?
The fellowship is open to individuals who:
- Are passionate about promoting peace through research, advocacy, policymaking, or community-driven initiatives.
- Are between 18 and 40 years old (born after October 13, 1985).
- Hold citizenship from one of the eligible countries: Nepal, Cambodia, Mongolia, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Philippines, Laos, Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bhutan, Singapore, Pakistan, Malaysia, Pacific Islands, or Afghanistan.
- Are fluent in English and demonstrate strong leadership qualities with at least three years of relevant professional experience.
- Can design and execute a personal project or academic plan related to peacebuilding.
- Are able to obtain a U.S. visa and commit to attending the in-person programme in October 2025.
