In the first phase, Smart Safe Cities projects have been launched in 16 additional districts across the province, and operations have already begun in several areas.
Approval has been granted for the purchase of vehicles for 16 Superintendents of Police (SPs) assigned to these new Smart Safe Cities. The decision to procure vehicles was made during a recent cabinet meeting.
The newly launched Smart Safe Cities cover the districts of Gujrat, Attock, Jhelum, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Okara, Murree, Jhang, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Sargodha.
Additionally, six vehicles are required for SPs stationed at the operational Smart Safe Cities in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala.
According to reports, the price of a 1500cc vehicle is set at Rs6.592 million, while a 1600cc vehicle costs Rs6.998 million.
The cost for 22 vehicles of 1500cc totals Rs145.044 million, whereas the 22 vehicles of 1600cc amount to Rs152.456 million. Funding for the vehicle purchases will be provided through a supplementary grant from the current fiscal year’s budget.
