Mianwali has been identified as one of Pakistan’s most sensitive districts due to increasing threats of cross-border terrorism and synthetic drug trafficking, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Shehzad Asif Khan said during a media briefing.
Following his inspection of key border points—including Dara Tang, Jinnah Barrage, Chashma Barrage, Makarwal Police Station, Chahri, and Isakhel—RPO Asif highlighted the alarming spread of drugs like methamphetamine (ice) and “ghubeka,” calling for swift and effective countermeasures.
“The threat level in these areas is high, and we must act decisively to stop the movement of terrorists and narcotics,” he said. He also addressed misinformation surrounding a recent anti-terror operation in Makarwal, stating such narratives demoralize frontline officers and benefit extremist elements.
Speaking at a public meeting (khuli kutchery), RPO Asif assured locals of continued efforts to ensure public safety and urged the community to cooperate with law enforcement. “With public support, we will eliminate terrorism from its roots,” he said.
He was joined by DPO Captain (retd) Muhammad Ajmal and other senior officers. Most complaints heard during the session involved thefts, robberies, and land disputes. Officers were instructed to resolve public issues with professionalism and respect.
