Oil prices climbed above $95 per barrel on Wednesday after renewed tensions between the United States and Iran created panic across energy markets worldwide.
Brent crude surged past the $95 mark after US officials reportedly said Iran was “not serious” about a ceasefire, while Tehran said the US was unwilling to resume talks.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei issued a strongly worded statement accusing Washington of repeated attacks and threats against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
Baqaei said the US actions violate the UN Charter, international law, and multiple resolutions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the UN Security Council. He also rejected allegations surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
He described US claims regarding the Kolang Kouh site as a “fabricated pretext for aggression, destruction, and sabotage” and criticized the IAEA’s leadership.
The Iranian spokesperson added that the Iranian people remain united and are prepared to respond to any US action that threatens the country’s sovereignty or national security.
