PFA Shuts Down Food Outlet in Rawalpindi Over Poor Hygiene

The Additional Director General of Punjab Food Authority on Friday paid a surprise visit to the Commercial Market here and closed down a food outlet due to extremely poor arrangements.

According to a PFA spokesperson, the high official carried out detailed checking of four food points. Besides closing one of them, the other three were imposed a total fine of Rs. 450,000.

The fines were imposed on the outlets due to extremely poor cleaning arrangements and use of rancid oil, the spokesman said. Some 70 litres of rancid oil were destroyed.

The Additional Director General issued strict instructions to the food points for maintaining hygienic conditions. “Citizens can contact the Helpline 1223 in case of any complaint regarding food outlets,” the spokesman said.

  • Why don’t you share the outlet names?
Don’t the citizens have the right to know such disgusting food chains so that they are careful next time going to such places and these culprits should be exposed publicly so that they learn some lesson

  • Good. Has PFA ever visited thousands of other restaurants including roadside restaurants where there are hundreds of house flies and zero hygiene observed? We are in fact one of the filthiest nations on this Earth. Personal hygiene is much emphasized in religion but it is not a part of our culture, unfortunately.

  • Why the writer is afraid of highlighting the names of that food outlet which was forcefully closed and those who were fined. ???

  • Why don’t authorities mention the names of outlets, don’t give half information
