US President Donald Trump addressed the recent military attack by India on Pakistan, describing the situation as “a shame” and expressing hope for a quick end to the hostilities.
“It’s a shame. We just heard about it as we were walking through the doors of the Oval. Just heard about it,” Trump said when asked about the escalating conflict.
He acknowledged the long-standing nature of the disputes between the two nations, stating, “They’ve been fighting for a long time. They’ve been fighting for many, many decades. And centuries if you think about it.” He concluded his remarks with a hopeful note: “I hope it ends very quickly.”
These actions were in response to a deadly April 22 assault in Indian-administered Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which killed 26 people. India alleges the attack was linked to Pakistan, though Islamabad denies involvement.
