Color-Coded File Covers Introduced in Lahore High Court

The Lahore High Court has announced the implementation of a new color-coded filing system for court cases, set to begin on June 15 and fully enforced by July 15, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV Channel.

In a circular issued by the Additional Registrar (Judicial), the court stated that the new system is intended to streamline case management and improve operational efficiency.

Under this revised system, different case categories will be identified by specific file colors:

  • Writ petitions: White file covers
  • Family cases: White covers with pink borders
  • Civil cases: White covers with dark yellow borders
  • Criminal cases: White covers with blue borders
  • Criminal branch files: Solid blue covers
  • Civil branch files: Solid yellow covers
  • Commercial and tax matters: Solid brown covers
  • Election-related cases: Solid orange covers

All judicial staff have been instructed to comply with the new protocol to ensure consistency and clarity in court records and proceedings.
