Islamabad to Get Seven-Star Hotel, Hospital and Skyline Projects

The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has reversed an earlier decision and approved the disposal of a seven-star hotel and an international hospital plot in Sector G-13 through public-private partnership (PPP), alongside the open auction option.

The change was approved during the 40th executive board meeting of the FGEHA on May 9, chaired by Housing Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada. The board revoked a previous resolution passed in December 2023 that required auction-only disposal, allowing instead for two models: PPP and lease-and-operate.

Officials informed the board that this shift aligns with the Prime Minister’s directive and was developed in coordination with the Public Private Partnership Authority (P3A). Several consultative sessions led to the recommendation of the new disposal modes to attract long-term investment.

In addition to the hotel and hospital plots, FGEHA has identified 11 more sites for development via PPP. These include plots for an IT tower and an international office hub in G-13, a shopping mall in Skyline Project Islamabad, an international school in G-14/2, and residential-commercial projects in Rawalpindi, Karachi, and Murree.

The board approved the plan but held off on the Murree property’s disposal due to a legal dispute over ownership, dating back to pre-partition claims.
