New Parking Rule Introduced for Vehicles in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad administration have initiated a strict crackdown on illegal parking in commercial areas, introducing a nighttime ban on unauthorized vehicles and warning of impoundment for violators.

The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting on Monday, chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Inspector General of Police Nasir Rizvi, the Deputy Commissioner, and other senior officials were also in attendance.

The move comes in response to growing traffic congestion and rising security concerns linked to improperly parked and unattended vehicles in busy markets.

According to the new policy, parking in commercial zones during the night will be strictly limited to authorized residents and business owners. Shoppers and visitors will only be permitted to park during daytime hours. Any vehicles found violating these restrictions will be towed and impounded at local police stations.

Officials pointed to unattended vehicles as a rising security risk and emphasized that the new rules aim to address both traffic flow and safety without disrupting public access during business hours.

The administration is expected to release additional details soon regarding designated parking zones and the enforcement timeline. Residents and business owners have been advised to adhere to the new rules to avoid penalties.

  • Are there sufficient parking places in Islamabad? No. The parking lots in the city have been illegally occupied by second hand car dealers and similar other businesses. Before framing and implementing parking rules, have the illegally occupied parking lots vacated and create more and more spaces.

  • Why are THESE people not futuristic??? When n wherever any market/shopping area is planned…the foremost priority should be a PARKING PLACE/PLAZA… only big malls like Carrefour or Dolmen etc construct basement parking… otherwise there’s no such concept…for example…why not design some underground parking for G9/10/11 Marakiz…

  • It is a good idea, trafic or parking discipline is one highest indicator of literate and civilised nation, we imposed some drastic rules and regulations in across the country.

  • They should be special area parking for motorbikes. Lot of the time the cars can’t park properly because of bikes parked all over the place

  • Is it not correct that the CDA does not approve the building plan of any commercial plaza till it shows vehicle parking in its basement? If so, then CDA should implement its own rule, prior to making further rules in the context, for the public.

  • Why Islamabad administration not introduce paid parking systems for everyone and in violation put heavy heavy fines and E-challan but always shortest finding shortest ways

  • Good idea but it should be advertised in print and electronic medias. So that the general public of Pindi and Islamabad is made aware.

  • i dnt understand what want the islamabad police they make good rules but where r we park our vehicle . in every parking there is fruit or vegetable stall or taxi rikshaw and ven stand there . first clear the parking areas and then make this type of challan and rules etc .

  • Boht achi bat hy . but kia parking areas sirf vehicle k leay hi available houn gy ? hamary parking areas my to rerrhi waly or taxi walo ny pehly se hi qabza kia hota hy . bs sirf chalan k leay ye rule bana diya giya hy . first of all parking areas clear kry then ye rules apply kry .

  • Stupid unrealistic rules.

Underground and above-ground parking should be mandatory for all new commercial buildings; atleast one and half parking floors for every 3 floors having commercial activity. This will reduce parking pressure on streets and roads though won’t finish it.

Dense commercial areas can have multi-story (8-10 floors minimum parking plazas with affordable pricing for short (2-3hrs) and long term (full to multi day) parking.

  • There is no parking place available in any of the Markets or Markez of Islamabad. Highrise bluidings on New Blue Area opposite Jinnah Park Islamabad has one plaza functional and yet we see jammed car parking for 3 Km stretch. What a planning by CDA. Above all people visit shops at night after dawn so where they will park their car? Why not first educate people via Social media and then implement any new rules. But main purpose is to mint money from people by making new ridiculous laws. Corrupt Government , corrupt CDA and Corrupt Police is becoming unbearable 💔

  • Shopkeepers are using the F6 markaz car park to long term park vans and pickups that they use as store rooms. Will Islamabad police take action?
